"New York City's Sworn is the result of four musicians with no scene coming together to form their own scene. Their music is emotive yet not Emo, dark but not Goth, raw but not Garage, relevant but not trendy.
Balanced on the acoustic songwriting and intricate wordplay of lead singer Tony Calabro, Sworn's recent self-titled release is a lush rock recording laced with textured guitars swirling around a driving rhythm section and dynamic vocals.
This juxtaposition of the raw and refined is perhaps the result of influences ranging from bands like Sunny Day Real Estate, Incubus, and U2, to the raw sounds of Hendrix, SmashingPumpkins, and Soundgarden. Regardless of the origin of this eclecticism, Sworn's music culminates in something that is accessible to the masses by coincidence rather than calculation.
Hailing from New York City, the members of Sworn have performed in stand out venues such as Mercury Lounge, The Knitting Factory, and Pianos. With the recent release of their debut EP, the band is busy taking their live show to clubs and colleges nationwide. " |
